Masahiro Hamazaki (born March 14, 1940 – died October 10, 2011) was a Japanese football player. He was a talented goalkeeper. He played for the Japan national team. He helped his team win a bronze medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics.

Playing for Clubs: Masahiro Hamazaki's Journey

Masahiro Hamazaki was born in Osaka, Japan. After finishing university, he joined a football club called Yawata Steel. Later, this club became known as Nippon Steel.

In 1964, his team, Yawata Steel, won a big competition. It was called the Emperor's Cup. In 1965, Yawata Steel joined a new league. It was called the Japan Soccer League.

Hamazaki played 100 games in this league. He was a very important player for his team. He stopped playing professional football in 1972.

Representing Japan: National Team Highlights

In December 1966, Masahiro Hamazaki was chosen to play for the Japan national team. This is a special team. It represents the whole country.

His first game for Japan was on December 16, 1966. It was against Singapore. This game was part of the 1966 Asian Games. He played two games for Japan that year.

In October 1968, he was selected for the Japan team again. This time, it was for the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Even though he was a reserve goalkeeper and did not play in the matches, Japan won a Bronze Medal. This was a huge achievement for the team!

In 2018, this amazing team was honored. They were selected for the Japan Football Hall of Fame. This means their achievements are remembered and celebrated.

Masahiro Hamazaki passed away on October 10, 2011. He was 71 years old.
