Mason Jordan Williams, born on August 21, 1991, is an American who used to play professional baseball. He was an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). Mason played for several teams, including the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Mets.

Early Life and Baseball Dreams
Mason Williams was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. When he was young, he was a great player for his local Little League team. After finishing seventh grade, his family moved to Winter Garden, Florida. This move helped him play against stronger teams. He hoped to earn a scholarship to play college baseball.
Mason Williams' Baseball Career
Starting with the New York Yankees
Mason Williams went to West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida. He played baseball for his school team. In 2010, the New York Yankees picked him in the fourth round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. He decided to sign with the Yankees for $1.5 million. This meant he would not go to the University of South Carolina for college.
Williams began his professional career in 2010 with the Gulf Coast Yankees. He played in five games. In 2011, he played for the Staten Island Yankees in the New York–Penn League. He had a great season, hitting .349 with three home runs and 28 stolen bases. After this season, he was named the league's Most Valuable Player.
Before the 2012 season, Baseball America magazine thought he was one of the Yankees' top young players. They also said he was the best prospect in the New York–Penn League. Other baseball experts also ranked him as one of the best young players in all of baseball.
Williams started 2012 with the Charleston RiverDogs. He hit .304 with eight home runs and 19 stolen bases. Later that year, he moved up to the Tampa Yankees. He played 22 games there before he hurt his left shoulder in July. In November 2014, the Yankees added Williams to their main roster. This protected him from being picked by other teams.
In 2015, Williams started with the Trenton Thunder. Then, he was promoted to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. On June 11, the Yankees called him up to play in the major leagues. In his very first game on June 12, Williams hit a home run. This was his first hit in Major League Baseball. However, he hurt his right shoulder on June 19 and needed surgery in August. This ended his season early.
Williams played for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre again in 2016. He was called up to the Yankees in September. He played well, hitting .296 in 12 games. In 2017, he started with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre again. He was promoted to the major leagues on June 16. He played in five games for the Yankees before they removed him from the team on June 29. After the season, he became a free agent.
Playing for the Cincinnati Reds
On November 17, 2017, Williams signed a contract with the Cincinnati Reds. On July 26, 2018, he joined the Reds' main team. He made his debut for them as a pinch hitter. The next day, he started his first game for the Reds. He hit a three-run home run that helped his team take the lead. After the season, he became a free agent again.
Williams signed another contract with the Reds in December 2018. However, he was released by the team in March 2019.
Time with the Baltimore Orioles
On March 29, 2019, Williams signed a contract with the Baltimore Orioles. He played for the Norfolk Tides. After their season ended, the Orioles called him up to the major leagues on September 3. He played in 11 games and had two runs batted in. He became a free agent again in October.
Williams re-signed with the Orioles in November 2019. In August 2020, he was added to the main team again. He was moved on and off the team's roster a few times that September. He was released by the Orioles in September 2020.
Joining the New York Mets
On April 15, 2021, Williams signed a contract with the New York Mets. On May 31, he was added to the Mets' main team. He played in 17 games for the Mets, hitting one home run. On June 20, he was removed from the team. He then signed another contract with the Mets' minor league team, the Syracuse Mets.
In 2021, Williams played 70 games for the Syracuse Mets. He hit five home runs and had 29 runs batted in. After the season, he became a free agent on November 7, 2021.
Mason Williams' Family
Mason Williams comes from a family of athletes. His father, Derwin Williams, played football in the National Football League for the New England Patriots. Mason's great-uncle, Walt Williams, also played Major League Baseball. Walt was an outfielder from 1964 to 1975 for teams like the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. Mason also has a younger brother named Kobe.
