Masonville Place, also known as Masonville or Masonville Mall, is a large two-storey shopping mall. You can find it in London, Ontario, Canada. It's located at the corner of Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street.

This mall is a popular spot with over 130 stores, many restaurants, and a food court. Big stores like Hudson's Bay, Zara, and H&M are here. There are also two Cineplex Cinemas locations: a movie theatre with IMAX and The Rec Room. The Rec Room is a fun place with food, drinks, arcade games, and even axe-throwing!

Masonville Place first opened its doors on January 2, 1985. It was one of the first multi-level shopping centres in London. When it first opened, it had major stores like Sears, Eaton's, and Loblaws.

Getting to Masonville Place

This shopping mall is in North London. It's easy to get to because it's near major roads. There's also a bus terminal right at the mall. The London Transit Commission has many bus routes that stop here. These include routes 10, 13, 13A, 16, 25, 34, 90, 92, and 93. The mall is also planned to be a stop for London's new Bus Rapid Transit system.

Masonville's History

How it Started

Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited built Masonville Place. It officially opened in 1985, becoming a new shopping destination for the city.

Growing Bigger

Masonville Place has grown a lot over the years.

  • In 1991, the mall added 75 new stores and services. It even had an indoor mini-golf course for a while!
  • A Zellers store opened in 1994. Later, in 2013, Target took its place.
  • When Target closed all its Canadian stores, the space became empty. But in 2017, Marshalls and HomeSense moved in.
  • In April 2018, the upper part of the old Target store became The Rec Room.
  • The original Loblaws store closed in 1998. A new, bigger Loblaws opened nearby.
  • The Eaton's store closed in 1999. In 2000, The Bay (now Hudson's Bay) moved into that spot.

Modern Makeovers

Masonville Place has also had some big updates.

  • In 2013, Sears Canada announced it would close its store at the mall.
  • On March 29, 2016, Cadillac Fairview shared exciting news. Masonville Place would get a huge $77 million renovation!
  • The renovations finished by November 2016. They added a two-level expansion where the old Sears store used to be.
  • Many new and popular stores opened, including London's first Disney Store, Zara, Hot Topic, and H&M.
  • Restaurants like Nando's, Aroma Espresso Bar, and The Keg also opened.
  • Other stores like Michael Kors and NYX Cosmetics moved into the updated spaces.
  • In 2020, Urban Planet took over the space where Forever 21 used to be.
