About the Matterhorn Mountain
The Matterhorn is special because it is the tallest mountain in the Jarbidge Mountains. It is also one of the most prominent peaks in Nevada. This means it stands out a lot from the land around it. The very top of the mountain is inside the Jarbidge Wilderness. This is a protected area. It is managed by the Jarbidge Ranger District. This district is part of the huge Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
The mountain got its name from another famous mountain. That mountain is also called the Matterhorn. It is in the Alps of Europe. People named the Nevada Matterhorn this way because it has steep cliffs. These cliffs are right next to the top of the mountain. They are mostly on the north and northeast sides.
Amazing Views from the Top
When you reach the top of the Matterhorn, you can see incredible views all around! This is called a panorama. It lets you see for many miles in every direction.
