Maxim Mikhaylovich Mikhaylov (born March 19, 1988) is a famous Russian volleyball star. He is known for his powerful attacks as an opposite hitter. Mikhaylov plays for the top Russian club Zenit Kazan and has been a key player for the Russia men's national volleyball team.

He is a decorated Olympian, winning a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics, a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He has also won many other major tournaments, including the FIVB World Cup and the European Championship.

Career Highlights

Maxim Mikhaylov began playing volleyball in the Leningrad region. His professional career started in 2003 with the team Yaroslavich Yaroslavl, where he played for seven years. In 2010, he made a big move to join Zenit Kazan, one of the best volleyball clubs in the world.

Success with the National Team

Mikhaylov has had an amazing career with the Russia men's national volleyball team. He first won an Olympic medal in 2008, taking home the bronze from Beijing.

In 2011, he led Russia to a gold medal at the FIVB World Cup. The next year, he achieved his biggest dream by winning the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He was so good that he was named the best spiker and top scorer of the tournament.

He continued to win, helping his team become European Champions in 2013. Even after dealing with injuries, he returned to compete in the 2016 Rio Olympics. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he won a silver medal, adding to his incredible collection.

Club Dominance with Zenit Kazan

Since joining Zenit Kazan in 2010, Mikhaylov has won many championships. His team won the CEV Champions League, Europe's top club competition, five times (2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018).

He also helped Zenit Kazan win a bronze medal at the FIVB Club World Championship in 2011. In 2017, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the CEV Champions League finals.

Personal Life

Mikhaylov is married to his wife, Anastasia. Together, they have a son named Nikita.
