Maye Musk (born Maye Haldeman on April 19, 1948) is a Canadian model and dietitian, which is an expert in food and nutrition. She has been a model for over 50 years and has appeared on the covers of famous magazines like Time, Vogue, and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
She is the mother of three children: Elon Musk, Kimbal Musk, and Tosca Musk. Maye Musk holds citizenship in Canada, South Africa, and the United States. She also has two master's degrees in nutrition.

Early Life and Family
A Childhood of Adventure
Maye Haldeman was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She has a twin sister, Kaye, and is one of five children. In 1950, when she was a toddler, her family moved to Pretoria, South Africa.
Her parents, Winnifred and Joshua Haldeman, were very adventurous. Her father was a chiropractor and an amateur archaeologist. In 1952, they flew the whole family around the world in a small propeller plane. For more than ten years, the family would explore the Kalahari Desert, searching for a legendary Lost City. Maye said her parents were "very famous, but they were never snobs."
First Jobs and Marriage
Maye started working when she was about eight years old, helping her parents with their newsletter. By age 12, she worked as a receptionist for her father's office.
As a young woman, she was a finalist in the 1969 Miss South Africa beauty pageant. In 1970, she married Errol Musk, an engineer she knew from high school. Together, they had three children: Elon, Kimbal, and Tosca.
Maye and Errol divorced in 1979. For a while, her sons Elon and Kimbal chose to live with their father. Later, when Elon moved to Canada after high school, Maye and her daughter Tosca followed him there in 1989.
Education
Maye earned a master's degree in dietetics from a university in South Africa. She later earned a second master's degree in nutritional science from the University of Toronto in Canada. In 2023, she received an honorary doctorate degree for her work in dietetics.

Modeling Highlights
Maye's modeling career grew in Canada and the United States. She appeared on cereal boxes for Special K and in ads for the makeup brand Revlon. She was also in a music video for the singer Beyoncé.
She has been on the cover of many magazines. In 2011, she was on the cover of New York magazine. In September 2017, at age 69, she made history by becoming the oldest spokesmodel for the makeup company CoverGirl. In 2022, at age 74, she became the oldest model to ever be on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
