History of McDougal
McDougal started in 1914. It was a stop on a railroad line. This railroad helped connect nearby towns like Piggott and Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
The area had a busy timber industry. The railroad helped move wood products. McDougal was likely named after a railroad worker. A train station and a general store were built in 1914. A post office opened in 1916. McDougal officially became a city in 1954.
