McGregor is a small city in Aitkin County, Minnesota, United States. It's located in the central part of the state. As of the 2020 census, about 384 people lived there.
McGregor is easy to reach by car. It sits along Minnesota State Highways 65 and 210. Another local road, Aitkin County Road 8 (Maddy Street), also passes through.

History of McGregor
McGregor became an official city in 1903. Later, in 1919, it separated from the larger McGregor Township around it.
The city's name has an interesting story. It might have been named after a hunter and trapper from New York named McGregor. Another idea is that it was named for Major John G. MacGregor from Minneapolis. The city's post office first opened its doors in 1890.
Geography and Nature
McGregor covers an area of about 2.11 square miles (5.46 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.
The Sandy River flows very close to McGregor. This river is a branch of the famous Mississippi River. For those who love outdoor adventures, the Soo Line North ATV Trail is also nearby. It's a great place for riding all-terrain vehicles.
