History of Meadow Vale
The area where Meadow Vale now stands was once covered by farms growing wheat and hay. In 1963, a new neighborhood called the Meadow Vale subdivision was built there. Just four years later, in 1967, Meadow Vale officially became a city. By December of that same year, it grew even larger by adding about 100 more homes.
Geography and Location
Meadow Vale is found in the northeastern part of Jefferson County. It shares borders with other nearby communities. To the northwest is Rolling Hills, and to the southwest is Meadowbrook Farm. All other sides of Meadow Vale are surrounded by the larger area of Louisville/Jefferson County.
Nearby Attractions
The center of Downtown Louisville is about 11 miles (18 km) southwest of Meadow Vale. A popular place nearby is E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park, which is located just east of the city. A major road, Hurstbourne Parkway, was extended through Meadow Vale in 1994, making it easier to travel around the area.

The first location of El Nopal, a popular Mexican restaurant chain in the Kentuckiana area, was also in Westport Plaza. Another well-known restaurant was the Hungry Pelican, a seafood place that operated for many decades. It was famous for its large 150-gallon aquarium.
