History of Meadville
Meadville got its name from Charles Mead. He was a superintendent for the St. Joseph Railroad. A post office opened in Meadville way back in 1869.
Geography of Meadville
Meadville is found in the southwest part of Linn County. It is located near Missouri Route 139 and US Route 36. Other nearby towns include Laclede to the east and Wheeling to the west. A stream called Parson Creek flows about a mile west of the city.
The United States Census Bureau says that Meadville covers a total area of about 0.54 square miles (1.40 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
