J. Meejin Yoon (born in 1972) is a super talented Korean-American architect, designer, and teacher. She is known for creating amazing buildings and spaces.

In 2014, she made history by becoming the first woman to lead the Architecture Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Later, in 2018, she became the Dean of the College of Architecture, Art and Planning at Cornell University. She also started her own design company, Höweler+Yoon Architecture, with Eric Höweler in 2004.

Meejin Yoon is famous for her amazing designs that mix architecture, technology, and public spaces. Some of her cool projects include "White Noise White Light" for the Athens 2004 Olympics. Meejin Yoon was born in Seoul, Korea. She grew up in the United States. She studied architecture at Cornell University, finishing in 1995. Then, she got another degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 1997.

After her studies, she continued to research architecture. She was a Fulbright Fellow in Seoul, Korea, in 1998. She started teaching at MIT in 2001.

In 2001, Yoon also created MY Studio. This was a place for her to explore creative projects. These projects often combined architecture, art, and technology. With her partner Eric Höweler, she started Höweler+Yoon Architecture in 2005. This company designs buildings, city spaces, and public areas. They are based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Awards and Recognition

Meejin Yoon has received many important awards for her work. In 2021, she was chosen for the American Academy of Arts and Letters. This is a very high honor for artists in the United States.

She also won the Audi Urban Future Award in 2012. In 2008, she received the United States Artist Award. She got the Architecture Record's Design Vanguard Award in 2007. The Rome Prize in Design was given to her in 2005. This award comes from the American Academy in Rome.
