Meesha Shafi (Urdu: میشا شفیع) is a talented singer, actress, and model from Pakistan, who also holds Canadian citizenship. She is known for her powerful voice and diverse acting roles.
Meesha first appeared in films with a supporting role in the 2013 movie The Reluctant Fundamentalist. She also gained praise for her role as Laxmi, a spy, in the action film Waar. This movie is one of the highest-grossing Pakistani films ever.

Early Life
Meesha Shafi was born in Lahore, Pakistan in 1981. Her mother is the famous actress Saba Hameed, and her father is Syed Pervaiz Shafi. Meesha completed her A Levels at Lahore Grammar School. In 2007, she earned a degree in fine arts from the National College of Arts. Meesha became a Canadian citizen in 2016.

Modelling Work
Meesha Shafi began her modelling career when she was 17 years old. She appeared in a music video for the song "Bin Teray Kya Hai Jeena" with Jawad Ahmed. In 2009, she became a brand ambassador for L'Oréal Paris Pakistan. Meesha has been featured in many Pakistani magazines. She has also appeared in international publications like L'Officiel and Vogue India.
Acting Roles
Meesha Shafi started her acting journey on television. Her first TV show was Muhabbat Khawab Ki Soorat on Hum TV in 2006. She then appeared in Ye Zindagi To Woh Nahi on Geo TV in 2007.
Her first film role was in the 2012 Hollywood movie The Reluctant Fundamentalist. This film was based on a novel by Mohsin Hamid. Meesha played a small part as the main character's sister. The movie received mixed reviews.
Next, she acted in the Pakistani film Waar alongside Shaan Shahid. Meesha's role as Laxmi, an Indian spy, was highly praised by critics in Pakistan. For this role, she won the 'Best Supporting Actress' award at the ARY Film Awards in 2014.
In 2016, Meesha had a main role in the TV drama Mor Mahal. This show was set in the mid-19th century. More recently, in 2023, she appeared in the film Mustache, which was shown at the South by Southwest film festival.
Music Journey
Meesha Shafi started her singing career with the band Overload. She was part of the band with her husband until 2011. Meesha gained widespread fame when she sang "Alif Allah (Jugni)" with the folk singer Arif Lohar on Coke Studio Pakistan Season 3. This song became incredibly popular, getting over 20 million views on YouTube. It was even used in several films, including Cocktail and Jugni.
She also sang a version of the folk song "Chori Chori." Meesha returned to Coke Studio (Season 5) in 2012. There, she performed "Ishq Aap Bhi Awalla" and a ghazal called "Dasht-e-Tanhai." In 2014, she appeared on Coke Studio for a third time, singing "Sun Ve Balori."
In 2015, Meesha sang two original soundtracks (OSTs) for films. One song, 'EVA', was produced by Strings for the movie Moor. She also released 'Mehram Dilaan De Mahi' for the OST of the biopic Manto.
TV Show Appearances
In April 2013, Meesha Shafi joined Strings, Ali Azmat, Shahzad Hasan, and Alamgir as a judge. They were mentors on the singing talent show Cornetto Music Icons, which aired on ARY Digital.
In July 2017, Meesha Shafi became a judge for Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 2. She judged the audition rounds with Fawad Khan and Farooq Ahmed. She continued to be a judge for Season 3 and Season 4 of the show as well.
Personal Life
Meesha Shafi's maternal grandfather, Hameed Akhtar, was a well-known novelist and newspaper writer. He was also the president of the Progressive Writers' Movement. In 2008, Meesha married musician Mahmood Rahman. They have two children, a daughter named Janevi and a son named Kazimir.
