Meesha Shafi is a talented singer, actress, and model from Pakistan, who also holds Canadian citizenship. She is known for her powerful voice and versatile acting roles.
She first appeared in movies with a supporting role in the 2013 film The Reluctant Fundamentalist. She also gained praise for her role as Laxmi in the action movie Waar. This film is one of the highest-grossing Pakistani films ever!

Her Early Life
Meesha Shafi was born in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1981. Her mother is the famous actress Saba Hameed. Meesha studied at Lahore Grammar School and later earned a degree in fine arts from the National College of Arts in 2007. In 2016, she became a Canadian citizen.
Her Career Journey
Modelling Work
Meesha started modelling when she was 17 years old. She appeared in a music video for the song "Bin Teray Kya Hai Jeena." In 2009, she became a brand ambassador for L'Oreal Paris Pakistan. She has been featured in many magazines, both in Pakistan and internationally, like L'Officiel and Vogue India.
Acting Roles
Meesha's first TV show was Muhabbat Khawab Ki Soorat in 2006. She then appeared in another show called Ye Zindagi To Woh Nahi in 2007.
Her first movie role was in the 2012 Hollywood film The Reluctant Fundamentalist. She acted alongside stars like Kate Hudson and Riz Ahmed.
Later, she starred in the Pakistani film Waar with Shaan Shahid. Her role as Laxmi, an Indian spy, was highly praised. She even won the 'Best Supporting Actress' award at the ARY Film Awards in 2014 for this role.
In 2016, Meesha played a main character in the TV drama Mor Mahal, which was set in the mid-19th century. More recently, in 2023, she appeared in the film Mustache.
Music Career
Meesha began her singing career with a band called Overload. She later left the band in 2011.
One of her most famous songs is "Alif Allah (Jugni)", which she sang with the folk singer Arif Lohar on Coke Studio Pakistan Season 3. This song became incredibly popular, getting over 20 million views on YouTube! It was even used in several films like Cocktail and Jugni.
She returned to Coke Studio in 2012, singing "Ishq Aap Bhi Awalla" and a ghazal called "Dasht-e-Tanhai." In 2014, she performed "Sun Ve Balori" on Coke Studio.
Meesha has also sung for movie soundtracks. In 2015, she sang "EVA" for the film Moor and "Mehram Dilaan De Mahi" for the film Manto.
TV Appearances as a Judge
In 2013, Meesha became a judge and mentor on the singing talent show Cornetto Music Icons.
From 2017 onwards, she has been a judge on Pepsi Battle of the Bands. She judged Season 2, 3, and 4 of the show, helping to find new musical talent.
Personal Life
Meesha Shafi's maternal grandfather, Hameed Akhtar, was a well-known novelist and newspaper writer. In 2008, Meesha married musician Mahmood Rahman. They have two children, a daughter named Janevi and a son named Kazimir.
