Joining The Pussycat Dolls (2003–2010)
When Melody was 19, she went to Burbank, California, to try out for the Pussycat Dolls. The group's creator, Robin Antin, wanted to turn the Pussycat Dolls into a famous music group. Melody was chosen to make their singing stronger. She joined Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Nicole Scherzinger, Jessica Sutta, and Kimberly Wyatt.
Melody and Carmit Bachar sang backup vocals. Nicole Scherzinger was the main lead singer. Melody was the youngest member. She was also the only one who didn't have a dance background.
The group's first song was "Don't Cha" (with Busta Rhymes). It became their biggest hit. The song reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also hit number one in 15 other countries. Melody didn't like the song at first. She thought it was too controversial.
They released their first album, PCD, in September 2005. Other songs like "Stickwitu" and "Buttons" also did very well. PCD sold seven million copies around the world. This made The Pussycat Dolls a very successful music group.
Melody also sang on Jibbs' song "Go Too Far" in 2007. It reached the top twenty in New Zealand. The group's second album, Doll Domination, came out in September 2008. It included hits like "When I Grow Up".
In 2009, the group went on their Doll Domination Tour. They performed in Europe, Oceania, and Asia. After their song "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" came out, there were some problems in the group.
