Menzies is a small place, also known as a locality, in the Australian state of South Australia. It is found on Kangaroo Island, a large island off the coast. It is also about 19 kilometers (12 miles) west of Kingscote, a main town on Kangaroo Island.
About Menzies
The area known as Menzies got its official boundaries in May 2002. Its name comes from a much older land division called the Hundred of Menzies. A "Hundred" is a type of historical land division used in some parts of Australia.
The main way people use the land in Menzies is for primary production. This means activities like farming, growing crops, or raising animals. These activities help produce food and other raw materials.
Government and Location
Menzies is part of different government areas. For national elections, it is in the federal Division of Mayo. For state elections in South Australia, it is in the Electoral district of Mawson. Locally, Menzies is looked after by the Kangaroo Island Council. This council helps manage local services and rules for the community.
