Michał Jarosław Kubiak is a famous Polish volleyball player. He was born on February 23, 1988. He plays as an outside hitter for Shanghai Bright.
Michał was a key player for the Polish national team. He competed in the Olympic Games three times. These were in London (2012), Rio (2016), and Tokyo (2020). He helped Poland win the World Championship twice, in 2014 and 2018. He also won the World League in 2012.

Michał Kubiak grew up in Wałcz, Poland. He has an older brother named Błażej, who also plays volleyball. Michał is married to Monika. They have two children. Their first child, Pola, was born on Michał's 26th birthday in 2014.
Michał Kubiak's Volleyball Journey
Before playing indoor volleyball, Michał Kubiak was a beach volleyball player. He played with Zbigniew Bartman. They won a gold medal at the European Under-18 Championship in 2004. They also earned a silver medal at the World Under-18 Championship in the same year. Both players later decided to focus on indoor volleyball.
Playing for Clubs
Michał started his professional indoor volleyball career in Poland in the 2005/2006 season. He played for three different Polish clubs. Then, he moved to play in other countries.
- Early Career Abroad: In 2008, he joined Hapoel Kiryat Ata, an Israeli club. His skills improved a lot after playing well for the Polish national team's B squad. After that, he moved to Italy to play for Volley Padwa.
- Return to Poland: In 2010, Michał came back to Poland's top league, the PlusLiga. He played for AZS Politechnika Warszawska and reunited with his former beach volleyball partner, Zbigniew Bartman.
- Success with Jastrzębski Węgiel: In 2011, Michał joined Jastrzębski Węgiel. With this team, he won a silver medal at the World Club Championship in 2011. In the 2012/2013 season, his team won a bronze medal in the Polish Championships. The club also reached the Final Four of the Champions League in 2014. They won a bronze medal there by beating Zenit Kazan.
- Playing in Turkey and Japan: In 2014, Michał moved to the Turkish club Halkbank Ankara. He won the Turkish Cup with them in 2015. After that, he spent seven years playing for the Panasonic Panthers in Japan. He was a very important player for them. The Panasonic Panthers praised him for his world-class playing and his inspiring attitude. Michał left the Panasonic Panthers after the 2022/23 season.
Playing for the National Team
Michał Kubiak first joined the Polish national team in 2011. The coach, Andrea Anastasi, selected him.
- First Medals: In 2011, he helped Poland win three medals. They got a silver at the World Cup. They also earned two bronze medals at the World League and the European Championship.
- World League Gold: In 2012, Michał was part of the team that won the gold medal at the World League in Sofia, Bulgaria.
- World Champion Titles: On August 16, 2014, he was chosen for the World Championship team. Poland won the title on September 21, 2014. On October 27, 2014, the Polish President gave him the Gold Cross of Merit. This award was for his great sports achievements and for promoting Poland worldwide.
- Defending the Title: On September 30, 2018, Poland won the World Championship again. They beat Brazil 3-0 in the final match. This meant they defended their title from 2014. Michał Kubiak was a main player and received an award for the Best Outside Spiker.
- Retirement from National Team: Michał played his last match for the national team in 2021.
