Michael Anthony Buchanan, Jr. (born January 24, 1991) is an American former professional football player. He played as a defensive end. Michael was chosen by the New England Patriots in the 2013 NFL draft. Before that, he played college football at the University of Illinois.

Michael Buchanan grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He went to Homewood-Flossmoor High School. During his time there, he was a very talented football player.

College Football Career

He was named to the Second-team All-Big Ten in both 2011 and 2012. This means he was one of the top defensive players in the Big Ten Conference for two years in a row. In his final year, he was named the team's Outstanding Defensive Player. He was also recognized as the best defensive lineman.
