Michael Johnson was chosen by the New York Giants in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was the 224th player picked overall. This was a big step for him to play professional football.

Time with the New York Giants

When Michael joined the Giants, he wore jersey number 43. He was part of a special group of rookies that year. These players helped the Giants win Super Bowl XLII. This is one of the biggest championships in American sports.

During the 2007 playoffs, Michael made a very important play. It was in the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers. A teammate fumbled the ball, and a Packers player almost recovered it. But Michael quickly jumped in and knocked the ball away. Another Giants player then recovered it. This play helped the Giants win the game in overtime. They then went on to win the Super Bowl!

In 2008, Michael changed his jersey number to 20. He became a starting player for the Giants that season. He played both free safety and strong safety. He finished the year with 88 tackles and two interceptions. He was a key part of the Giants' defense. After the 2010 season, Michael became a free agent. This meant he could sign with any team.
