Michale De’Vonta Kyser (born November 26, 1991) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for EWE Baskets Oldenburg in Germany's top basketball league, the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for Louisiana Tech.

Early Life and High School Hoops

Michale Kyser was born in Victoria, Texas. His mother's name is Myshell Kyser.

He started playing basketball in high school. At Lancaster High School in Texas, he was a star player. He scored about 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in each game. He also blocked an amazing six shots per game. This earned him a spot on the all-District 15-4A first team.

Later, he played for one year at Christian Life Center Academy in Humble, Texas. There, he continued to impress. He averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, and six blocks per game.

College Days at Louisiana Tech

Michale then went on to play college basketball for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. He played there from 2011 to 2015.

  • In his first year (2011–12), he played about 13 minutes per game. He averaged 3.7 points and 1.8 blocks. His blocks were the second-best in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
  • During his second year (2012–13), he played more, averaging 19 minutes. He scored 5.0 points and led the WAC in blocks with 2.7 per game. He was even 15th in the entire NCAA for blocks. He was named to the WAC All-Defense team.
  • In his third year (2013–14), he averaged 7.0 points and 6.6 rebounds. He led Conference USA (CUSA) in blocks with 2.0 per game. He was also 5th in the NCAA for blocks. He was named to the CUSA All-Defense team.
  • For his final year (2014–15), Kyser played about 28 minutes per game. He averaged 8.6 points and 6.6 rebounds. He was second in CUSA and 12th in the NCAA for blocks, with 2.8 per game. He was again named to the CUSA All-Defense team.

Michale helped Louisiana Tech win the conference championship three times (2013, 2014, 2015). By the end of his college career, he became Louisiana Tech's all-time leader in blocked shots.

Starting His Pro Career (2015-2019)

After college, Michale Kyser was not chosen in the 2015 NBA draft. However, he joined the Toronto Raptors for the 2015 NBA Summer League. He played in four games, averaging 3.5 points and 4.0 rebounds. He signed with the Raptors but was later waived.

  • In October 2015, he joined the Raptors 905, a team connected to the Toronto Raptors.
  • In November 2016, he signed with the Salt Lake City Stars. He played his first game for them, scoring eight points.
  • In September 2017, Kyser moved to Cyprus to play for Enosis Neon Paralimni. He had a great time there, averaging 15 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game.
  • Later in 2017, he joined Kymis B.C. in the Greek Basket League. He led the Greek league in blocks, with 1.9 blocks per game.
  • For the 2018–19 season, he played for Aris B.C. in Greece. He was 10th in the league for blocks.
  • In July 2019, Kyser played six games for the Guelph Nighthawks in Canada.
  • In October 2019, he was drafted by the Lakeland Magic in the NBA G League. He averaged 9.0 points and 1.7 blocks over 41 games.

Playing Around the World (2020-Present)

Michale Kyser has played for many teams in different countries.

  • In July 2020, he signed with BK VEF Rīga in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. He led the league in blocks with 1.8 per game. He also averaged 11.8 points and 7.3 rebounds.
  • On July 15, 2021, he joined Hapoel Holon in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He averaged 1.4 blocks per game, which was 4th in the league. He also helped his team win the Israeli League championship in 2022.
  • On July 13, 2022, he signed with Surne Bilbao Basket in Spain. He averaged 1.2 blocks per game, ranking 6th in that league.
  • On July 21, 2023, he moved to Turkey to play for Samsunspor Basketbol. He averaged 1.4 blocks per game (4th in the league) and 7.0 rebounds (9th in the league).
  • On February 15, 2024, he signed with Wilki Morskie Szczecin in Poland. He averaged 1.0 blocks per game, placing him 10th in the league.
  • On July 25, 2024, he signed with Hapoel Holon B.C. in Israel again.
  • On July 14, 2025, he signed with EWE Baskets Oldenburg in Germany, where he currently plays.
