Michelle Hurd (born December 21, 1966) is an American actress. She is famous for her many roles on television. She first became known for playing Monique Jeffries in the police show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit from 1999 to 2001. Later, she starred as Raffi Musiker in the science fiction series Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023). She has also appeared in other popular shows like The Glades, Ash vs Evil Dead, and Blindspot.

Early Life and Education
Michelle Hurd was born on December 21, 1966. Her father, Hugh Hurd, was an actor. Her mother, Merlyn Hurd, was an actress and a psychologist. Her parents met while working on a play together. Michelle has three sisters.
She went to Saint Ann's School and graduated in 1984. She then studied at Boston University, finishing in 1988. Michelle also trained at the Alvin Ailey School and the National Theatre in London.
Acting Career Highlights
Michelle Hurd started her acting career in theatre. One of her early performances was in the play The Constant Couple in 1990. She made her debut on Broadway in 1996 in the play Getting Away with Murder. She also acted in plays like Othello and Hamlet. She won awards for her role in The Violet Hour.
In 1997, Michelle Hurd played the superhero B.B. DaCosta, also known as Fire, in a TV pilot called Justice League of America. She also appeared in TV shows like New York Undercover and The Practice.
Her connection with the Law & Order shows began in 1997. Her acting in an episode of Law & Order impressed producer Dick Wolf. Two years later, he cast her in the spin-off show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She played Detective Monique Jeffries for the first season and part of the second.
After SVU, Hurd took on roles in many other TV series. These included Charmed, The O.C., Bones, and Gossip Girl. From 2006 to 2007, she had a recurring role on ER.
From 2010 to 2013, she starred as Colleen Manus in the A&E drama The Glades. In 2014, she appeared in the popular streaming series Bosch.
In 2016, Hurd had a recurring role in Daredevil as Samantha Reyes. She had first played this character in Jessica Jones.
In 2019, Michelle Hurd joined the cast of the Paramount Plus series Star Trek: Picard. She played the character Raffi Musiker. The show started in January 2020 and ran until 2023.
Michelle Hurd also helps lead the SAG-AFTRA union in Los Angeles. She became the National Vice President for the Los Angeles Local in October 2021.
Personal Life
Michelle Hurd married actor Garret Dillahunt in 2007. They have worked together on some TV shows.
