Midway Point is a lovely place to live in Tasmania, Australia. Its name in the local Aboriginal languages (paredarerme/palawa kani) is tipina. It's a residential area, which means it's mostly made up of homes.
Midway Point is part of the Sorell Council, which is like the local government for the area. It's located in the South-east region of Tasmania. You can find it about 5 kilometers (about 3 miles) southwest of the town of Sorell. In 2016, a count showed that 2,859 people lived in Midway Point.
This area is special because it sits on a small piece of land called a peninsula. Water surrounds it on three sides! To the east, you'll find Orielton Lagoon. To the south and west, there's Pittwater. The name "Midway Point" comes from its location: it's about halfway along the Sorell Causeway, a road that connects Hobart to Sorell. Mcgees Bridge also connects to Midway Point, crossing over Pittwater.
Midway Point is quite close to Hobart International Airport. It's also only about 21 kilometers (about 13 miles) from Hobart, Tasmania's capital city, if you take the Tasman Highway. Because it's easy to get to Hobart, many people who work there choose to live in Midway Point. This makes it a popular "commuter town."

Midway Point became an officially recognized place, or "locality," in 1957. This means it was formally named and recorded on maps and in government documents that year.
Geography and Waterways
The area of Midway Point is shaped by its surrounding waters. The large body of water called Pittwater forms the boundaries on the eastern, southern, and western sides of the locality. This gives Midway Point its unique peninsula shape.
Roads and Travel
The main road that helps people get around Midway Point is Route A3, also known as the Tasman Highway. This important road passes through the southern part of the area, making it easy for residents to travel to nearby towns and cities, including Hobart.
