Club Football Journey
Miguel Tendillo was born in Moncada, Valencia, Spain. He began his football journey with his local team, Valencia CF. By the time he was 18, he was already a key player. In his first full season (1979-1980), he played 29 games in La Liga. That year, his team won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, and he even started in the final match against Arsenal.
On May 1, 1983, Tendillo scored a very important goal. It was the only goal in a 1–0 win against Real Madrid. This win helped Valencia avoid being moved down to a lower league. It also meant Real Madrid lost the league title to Athletic Bilbao by just one point.
After playing 274 official games for Valencia, Tendillo moved to Real Murcia CF in 1986. This happened after Valencia was moved down a league. He had another strong season there, which caught the attention of the powerful team Real Madrid. They wanted him to replace an injured player named Antonio Maceda.
Tendillo played as a starter for three of his five years at Real Madrid. He helped the club win three league titles and three Supercopa de España trophies.
In 1992, Tendillo joined Real Burgos CF. He played for them in the 1992–93 season. However, he could not help them stay in the top division, and they were moved down. He retired from playing football at the end of that season, when he was 32 years old. After retiring, he returned to the Mestalla Stadium to work as a coordinator for Valencia's youth teams.
Playing for Spain
Tendillo played his first game for the Spanish national team on May 21, 1980. He was not yet 20 years old. It was a friendly match against Denmark in Copenhagen, which ended in a 2–2 tie.
He was later chosen to play in the UEFA European Championship in 1980 and the 1982 FIFA World Cup. He played a total of 27 matches for Spain. In the 1980 European Championship, he played as a right-back.
