Michael B. Pollock (born March 9, 1965) is an American voice actor. He is famous for being the voice of Doctor Eggman and Gerald Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog games and shows since 2003. He has also voiced many characters in anime (Japanese cartoons dubbed into English), video games, and other animated shows.

You might also know his voice from the narrator, Raoul Contesta, and Drayden in the Pokémon series. He was also Adon Coborlwitz in Berserk and Meat in Ultimate Muscle. Plus, he voiced Langston Lickatoad in Viva Piñata and characters in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!.

Early Life and Start

Michael B. Pollock was born on March 9, 1965. His father's name was Herb Lawrence Pollock. Mike sometimes uses his father's name as a tribute when he gets credit for his work. He finished Roslyn High School in 1983. There, he was part of the school's theater group, the Royal Crown Players. In the 1980s, he worked in radio in Upstate New York.

Voice Acting Career

When Mike Pollock came back to New York City in the 1990s, he started getting jobs in children's videos and anime. He even got a part in an episode of Pokémon. A director named Eric Stuart helped him get started. Mike then got roles in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Ultimate Muscle, and became the announcer for the FoxBox TV block. His first big anime role was Meat in Ultimate Muscle.

Mike Pollock first became the voice of Doctor Eggman in the English version of Sonic X. He also voiced Professor Gerald Robotnik in that show. Mike then started voicing Eggman in the video games, beginning with Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Rush in 2005. This was because SEGA wanted the same voice actors for the TV shows and games.

Many anime websites and fans have praised Mike Pollock's voice for Dr. Eggman. His voice has become strongly linked to the character.

On July 15, 2010, Sega announced they would change the voice actors for the Sonic the Hedgehog series. New actors from Los Angeles, California, would take over. However, Mike Pollock continued to voice Dr. Eggman. He said that none of the new actors who tried out for the role sounded quite right.

Mike Pollock also voiced Dr. Eggman in the TV show Sonic Boom, which started on November 8, 2014. He has now voiced Dr. Eggman for longer than any other English-speaking actor.

In 2016, Mike Pollock narrated a commercial for Teleflora's Mother's Day. It used Vince Lombardi's famous "What It Takes to Be Number One" speech.

Personal Life

Mike Pollock's brother, Bill Pollock, is in charge of a publishing company called No Starch Press.
