Milky (pudding)
Milky comes in many yummy flavors!

Milky is a super popular dairy pudding made in Israel. It's produced by a big company called Strauss.

Milky first came out in Israel in 1980. It's sold in small cups with yummy chocolate pudding at the bottom. On top, there's a fluffy layer of whipped cream. When it first started, Milky was very similar to a dessert called "Dany Sahne" sold in Germany.

What Kinds of Milky Are There?

The company makes many different kinds of Milky!

  • There's "Milky Upside Down," which has vanilla pudding and chocolate cream.
  • You can also find a plain vanilla-flavored Milky.
  • Some Milky cups even have sprinkles on top for extra fun!
  • There's also a Milky chocolate mousse for a lighter treat.
  • They even have an "aerated" version, which means it's extra light and airy.

Milky's Famous Commercials

In 1986, Strauss made a very first video commercial for Milky. It was shown in movie theaters in Israel and was called "Battle of the Milky." This commercial was a huge hit! It was so popular that they made two more: "Battle of the Milky 2" and "Battle of the Milky 3."

The actresses in these commercials became very well-known. People called them "Milky girls." Many of them became famous on their own, like Sendi Bar, Hilla Nachshon, and Bar Refaeli.

An Important Change for Milky

In 2003, a student named Elaad Yair from Technion found something interesting. He discovered that the whipped cream in Milky used a type of gelatin from animals.

This was important for people who are vegetarian (meaning they don't eat meat or animal products). It also mattered to people who keep kosher. Keeping kosher means following special Jewish food rules.

Because of this discovery, many people complained. Strauss Group listened to their customers. The company then announced that from then on, they would only use gelatin made from plants. This made Milky suitable for vegetarians and those who keep kosher.
