As it flows, Mill Creek gets more water from several springs. These natural water sources add to the stream's flow. The stream also passes by the Mill Creek Recreation Area. This is a place where people can enjoy nature. Just before it joins Little Piney Creek, Mill Creek goes under Missouri Route P. The meeting point with Little Piney Creek is about 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) west of Newburg. At this spot, the elevation is 682 feet (208 meters).
How Mill Creek Got Its Name
Mill Creek was named a long time ago. Its name comes from the water mills that used to be along its banks. There was even a very large mill where Mill Creek met Little Piney Creek. These mills used the power of the flowing water to grind grain or do other work.
