Mimi and the Biscuit Factory (Swedish: Mimmi och kexfabriken) is a fun children's book by Viveca Sundvall. It was first published in Sweden in 1988. The English version came out in 1989. This book is part of the popular Mimmi series.

About the Story

This book tells the story of Mimmi, a curious 6-year-old girl. She lives in a bright yellow house in a small Swedish town. Mimmi's mom, Elin, works as a waitress at a restaurant called "Gyllene svanen." Sometimes, her mom works in the evenings.

From their balcony, Mimmi and her dad can often smell delicious biscuits. This wonderful smell comes from Henry's biscuit factory nearby.

Mimmi's Adventure at the Biscuit Factory

Mimmi goes to the same Kindergarten as her friend Anders. They were both born in the same year. One Monday in late May, Mimmi's kindergarten class gets to visit the biscuit factory. On that morning, Mimmi makes an exciting discovery: one of her teeth is loose!

At the factory, the children first watch a short film. It's about Henry's father, who created all the special biscuit recipes. Henry explains that the main recipe is a big secret. He plans to whisper it to his daughter, Rosamunda, before he passes away.

After the film, all the children receive a bag of biscuits and a tasty bun. As Mimmi walks home, her loose tooth gets stuck in the bun! She carefully puts the bun in her pocket. When she gets home, she places the bun in a glass of water. She heard that if you do this, your tooth will turn into a crown (which is a Swedish coin).

Creating a Secret Recipe

Later, Anders and Mimmi decide to become chefs! They lock themselves in the kitchen. Their goal is to create their very own secret biscuit recipe. They hide their new recipe behind an old brick wall. They plan to get it back 20 years later.

The next morning, Mimmi wakes up to a surprise. Her tooth is gone from the glass! Instead, there is a shiny crown (coin). The bun is also gone. With her new coin, Mimmi buys a green pear.
