Where Mingo Swamp Starts and Flows
Mingo Swamp begins in North Carolina. It starts about 2.5 miles (4.0 kilometers) northeast of Coats, North Carolina. This starting point is on the border between Johnston and Harnett Counties. The swamp then flows generally towards the southwest. It travels through the land until it meets the Black River. This meeting point is about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) northeast of Falcon, North Carolina. When Mingo Swamp and Black River join, they create the South River.
