Minto is a city in Walsh County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 616 people at the 2020 census. Minto was founded in 1881.

Minto's History
A post office started operating in Minto in 1880. Minto officially became a city in 1883. The city got its name from Minto, Ontario, which was the original home of many of the first people who settled there. A church called the St. Joseph's Chapel was built in 1907 by Polish immigrants.

Education in Minto
Schools for All Ages
The Minto Public School serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade. It teaches children from Minto and the nearby areas of southeastern Walsh County. This school was once named one of the top 100 schools in the United States by a magazine called Offspring Magazine. The very first school building, Minto School, was built in 1895. Today, this old school building is a museum.
