Miranda is a small community in Humboldt County, California. It is located about 2.5 miles (4 km) northwest of Phillipsville. Miranda sits at an elevation of 351 feet (107 meters) above sea level.
The area was first known as Jacobsen's Valley. The name Miranda was given to the local post office on August 26, 1905. Some say it's unclear if the name came from a girl or a Spanish place. Another story says Etta Coombs chose "Miranda" when she opened the post office. Miranda is found on the Avenue of the Giants, a scenic road. It is between Myers Flat to the north and Phillipsville to the south.
