Mirasol is a small community, also called a barrio, located in the town of Lares, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 938 people lived there. It's a quiet place known for its beautiful agricultural landscapes.

A Look Back: Mirasol's History

Puerto Rico used to be a territory of Spain. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of an agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. From then on, Puerto Rico became an unincorporated territory of the United States. This means it's part of the U.S. but doesn't have all the same rights as a state.

In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 1,027 people lived in Mirasol barrio at that time.
