She started singing at family parties and church events. To help with her songwriting, she began taking guitar lessons. After finishing high school, Mirella traveled to Miami. She wanted to find opportunities in music.
In Miami, she met a successful music producer named Rudy Pérez. Soon after, she started recording her first album. Mirella had written many songs. She picked the best ones for her album. She also included songs by other writers. Mirella's music mixes traditional Andean sounds with pop music. She often uses the charango, an instrument that sounds like a harp and looks like a small guitar.
