Mizque is a town in Bolivia. Its name, Misk'i, comes from the Quechua word for "sweet." It is the main town of the Mizque Province. You can find Mizque in the valley of the Mizque River. This river is an important branch of the larger Río Grande.
Long ago, Mizque was part of a region called Upper Peru. It was managed by Santa Cruz de la Sierra until 1783. Then, it became an independent town in the area of Cochabamba. This was during the time of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata, which was a large Spanish territory. During the Spanish American wars of independence, Mizque played a part. It sent representatives to meetings that declared independence for Argentina in 1816. Later, it also sent people to the meeting that declared Bolivia's independence in 1825.

Getting Around Mizque: Roads and Railways
Mizque has good ways to travel in and out of town.
Road Connections
There is a well-kept highway that goes from Mizque. If you head north-west, the road leads to Cochabamba. If you go south, the road (National Road 23) takes you to Aiquile. From Aiquile, you can continue all the way to Sucre.
Bus and Train Travel
Buses travel to Cochabamba almost every day. This makes it easy for people to visit or leave Mizque. There is also a railway line that runs near Mizque. However, the train station is across the river. This makes it a bit hard for people in Mizque to get to it. A special train service runs to Cochabamba three times a week. But this train ride takes about twice as long as the bus. Because of this, not many people use the train station for travel.
