Mohamed Hamed Hassan Khan (born October 26, 1942 – died July 26, 2016) was a famous Egyptian film director. He also wrote movie scripts and acted in some films.
He was a very important part of Egyptian movies in the 1980s. He worked with other great directors like Khairy Beshara and Daoud Abdel Sayed. Mohamed Khan loved to show real life in his movies. He wanted to film everyday scenes in Cairo, not just in movie studios. Four of his films are on the list of the Top 100 Egyptian films.
About Mohamed Khan
Mohamed Khan was born in Cairo, Egypt, on October 26, 1942. His mother was Egyptian, and his father was Pakistani. After finishing high school in Egypt, he went to study filmmaking in London. He attended the London School of Film Technique from 1962 to 1963. This school is now called The London International Film School.
While studying, he made several short films using 8mm cameras. In 1963, he came back to Egypt. He started working in the script department at the General Egyptian Film Organization. From 1964 to 1966, he worked as an assistant director in Lebanon.
Later, he moved back to England. There, he wrote a book called "An Introduction to the Egyptian Cinema". It was published in 1969. He also helped edit another book about Czechoslovakian movies.
His 1983 film, The Street Player, was shown at the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. In 2007, a book from the Bibliotheca Alexandrina said that Khan's film Ahlam Hind we Kamilia (1988) is one of the 100 most important Egyptian films ever made.
Mohamed Khan had two children. His daughter, Nadine, is also a film director. His son, Hassan, is an artist and musician. Mohamed Khan was married twice. His second wife was Wessam Soliman, an Egyptian writer. She wrote the scripts for three of his movies: Banat Wust el-Balad (Downtown Girls), Fi-Sha'et Masr el-Guedida (In a Heliopolis Apartment), and Fatat el-Masna' (The Factory Girl).

- Youssef and Zeinab (1986) - This was a film made with Egypt and the Maldives. It was shown at the Strasbourg and Moscow Film Festivals.
- Awdat Mowatin (1986) - Also known as Return of a Citizen. It was shown at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival.
- Zawgat Ragol Mohim (1987) - Also known as The Wife of an Important Man. It won the Silver Award at the Damascus Film Festival in 1987. It was also shown in competition at the 15th Moscow International Film Festival.
- Ahlam Hind we Kamilia (1988) - Also known as Dreams of Hind and Camilia. This film won the Bronze Award at the Valencia Film Fest in 1988. It also won Best Direction from the Egyptian Film Society Festival in 1989.
