Moncreiffe Hill is a long, tree-covered hill located south of Perth, Scotland. If you're driving north on the M90 motorway towards Perth, you'll easily spot it on your right side. Most paths to the top are surrounded by trees. But once you reach the summit, called Moredun Top, the trees clear away. From there, you get amazing views of Perth and the Firth of Tay!

Exploring Moncreiffe Hill

Moncreiffe Hill is a great place for an outdoor adventure. It's not too high, reaching 223 meters (about 730 feet) above sea level. This makes it a perfect spot for a hike with friends or family.

Getting to the Top

There are a couple of ways to reach the top of Moncreiffe Hill.

Moncrieffe-Perth

The quickest path starts from the north. You can find a car park at grid reference NO138209. This is a good starting point for a shorter walk.

If you prefer a longer adventure, another path begins from the south-east. Look for signs from the nearest public road, and you'll find enough space to park your car at NO153192. Both routes offer a fun way to explore the hill.

Nature on the Hill

Moncreiffe Hill is home to many different kinds of trees and plants. The Woodland Trust Scotland takes care of the hill, making sure the environment stays healthy.

As you walk along the trails, you'll see information boards. These boards teach you about the nature around you. There are also several marked trails, so you can easily follow a path that suits your walking plans.

A Bit of History

Moncreiffe Hill has a cool historical connection! Back in 1565, wood from this very hill was used for an important purpose. It helped to mount the cannons of Mary, Queen of Scots. This shows how important the trees on Moncreiffe Hill were, even hundreds of years ago.
