Moran Atias (pronounced Mor-AHN Ah-tee-AHS; born on April 9, 1981) is an actress and model from Israel. She became well-known for her roles in Italian movies like Gas, Oggi sposi, and Mother of Tears.
Many people know her for her work with director Paul Haggis. She starred in his 2008 TV show Crash and the 2013 movie Third Person. Moran Atias also played a main character in the FX television series Tyrant.

Early Life and Start in Entertainment
Moran Atias was born in Haifa, Israel. Her family has roots in Moroccan Jewish culture. When she was 15, she appeared on a youth TV show called Out of Focus.
At 17, she planned to join the Israel Defense Forces as a soldier. However, she was diagnosed with meningitis, a serious illness, which prevented her from serving. Instead, she started a career in modeling. She first modeled in Germany and then in Italy. In Italy, she was discovered by famous designer Roberto Cavalli and became one of his models. Moran also has a younger sister, Shani Atias, who is also an actress.

Moran Atias began her journey in television at age 15. She was part of the Israeli youth program Out of Focus. By the time she was 17, she moved to Germany to start her modeling career. She worked for big names like Roberto Cavalli, D&G, and BBG jewelers. Later, she even hosted a talk show in Italy.

In 2005, she was nominated for Best Actress at the Festival Sguardo al Femminile for her role in the Israeli film Days of Love. This led to her being cast in the Italian movie Gas. She then starred in the romantic comedy Oggi Sposi.
Moran also appeared in Mother of Tears. This was the third and final part of Dario Argento's scary horror series called The Three Mothers. Mother of Tears was shown for the first time at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival and the Rome Film Festival.
Working in the United States
In 2008, Moran Atias got a role in the TV drama series Crash. The show was based on the Oscar-winning movie of the same name by Paul Haggis. She played Inez, an immigrant character. After one season, she became the main female lead, acting alongside Dennis Hopper.
Working with Paul Haggis on Crash led to her being cast in his movie The Next Three Days. In 2011, she worked with Cynthia Mort on a TV project called Radical. Cynthia Mort wrote the role of Ana specifically for Moran.
In 2012, Moran was cast in the popular Israeli TV series Allenby Street. She played Mika, a girl who used to be Orthodox Jewish but now lives a complicated nightlife. Moran also helped produce this show and worked to turn it into an American series. She later joined the new FX series Tyrant. This show was created by the same people behind the successful series Homeland.
Her work on The Next Three Days also led to the movie Third Person. Moran Atias actually suggested this project and helped develop it with Paul Haggis. She was chosen to play Monika, a gypsy woman from Romania. To get ready for the role, she lived in Italy for four months. She experienced the gypsy lifestyle, living without basic things like running water or electricity. She also studied at the Italian Actor's Studio to perfect her Italian and Romanian accents. She was also a co-producer and helped with the script for the film. The movie first showed at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
Helping Others: Humanitarian Work
Moran Atias is also known for her humanitarian work. In Italy, from 2005 to 2006, she was the official spokesperson for the City of Milan. She helped with campaigns against graffiti and animal cruelty in the city.
After the terrible 2010 Haiti earthquake, Moran joined the Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) group. She volunteered with actor Sean Penn and helped move refugees to Florida. On her second trip to Haiti, she took part in a workshop at the Ciné Institute in Jacmel.
In May 2010, she worked with APJ again. She hosted and organized a charity event at the Cannes Film Festival. In November 2010, she hosted another charity event for APJ in New York. The money raised went to build the first free high school for children living in the poor areas of Haiti.
Moran Atias is also a goodwill ambassador for IsraAid. She continued her humanitarian work in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. In April 2020, she volunteered at the COVID-19 patient ward at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv.
Personal Life
In February 2017, Moran Atias became a citizen of the United States. This means she officially became a U.S. citizen. In 2022, Moran became a mother and gave birth to a daughter.
