More Flanimals is a funny book written by Ricky Gervais and illustrated by Rob Steen. It's the second book in the Flanimals series. It came out in 2005.
Just like the first Flanimals book, More Flanimals introduces about 30 new types of strange creatures called Flanimals. These creatures all live together in their own made-up world. Each Flanimal has unique and often silly features. Some well-known Flanimals from this book include the Squat and the Mung Ungler.
Discovering the Flanimals
This book is full of amazing and weird Flanimals. Here are some of the most interesting ones you'll find:
Unique Flanimal Creatures
- Skwunt – Imagine a creature like a clam but with its eyes inside its mouth! That's a Skwunt.
- Plappavom – This Flanimal looks like scrambled eggs. The strange thing is, it slowly dissolves over time.
- Fud Dumpton – A Fud Dumpton is a very strong and heavily built Flanimal. It also looks a bit clumsy or dopey.
- Grommomulunt – This creature looks like a caterpillar. It has no organs inside, just a pair of eyes! It's the young form of the Munt Fly. When it changes, it sheds its skin and eyes, and its insides just leak away.
- Horosi Horasi – Meet the fastest and smallest Flanimal on the planet. It's super quick!
- Edgor – The Edgor is the complete opposite of the Horosi Horasi. It's the slowest Flanimal ever. Some have even been passed by Flanimals that are already dead!
- Dweezle Muzzbug – This Flanimal is similar to a grasshopper. It has a strange habit of shedding its legs.
- Verminal Psquirm and Hordery Psquirm – These two Flanimals are very mysterious. They are only ever seen peeking around corners. No one knows what their full body shapes look like!
- Squat – The Squat is an aggressive Flanimal that looks a bit like a spider. You wouldn't want to meet one in a dark alley!
- Mung Ungler – This Flanimal looks like a cow but has many udders. It's a very unusual sight.
- Pong Flibber – A Pong Flibber is like a balloon. Its way of escaping danger is to pump out all its gassy insides!
- Weezy Tong Nambler – This Flanimal can be quite annoying. Its only ways to defend itself are to flap its body and lick things.
- Prug Fuggell – This is a strange creature that is a mix between a testroprod and a snail.
- Gronglet – The Gronglet has a trunk, but it's a sad Flanimal. It can't find enough food and usually dies on its very first day of life.
- Spleg – The Spleg is related to the Gronglet. It's a bit luckier, as it can survive until the day after it's born.
- Swog Monglet – This is a very old and lazy Flanimal that lives in ponds. Millions of years ago, it pulled itself out of the swamps.
- Gumbnumbly Knunk Knunk – This Flanimal isn't fully described in the book, but it appears in a story at the end. It's said to be able to read thoughts!
- Plodonklopus – An ancient type of Flanimal called Blunging. It was stronger and faster than other Blungings, but it still became extinct.
- Splorn – The Splorn is a tiny microscopic organism. It's believed to be the ancestor of all other Flanimals!
Flanimal Family Tree
The book also shows an evolutionary tree with many other Flanimals. These are not described in detail, but they show how different Flanimals might be related. Here are a few examples:
- Klut - A simple life form that looks like a pear.
- Skrag Valve - A slug-like Flanimal that developed from the Klut.
- Gernloid - An orange Flanimal that looks like a frog and is related to the Psquirms.
- Grebulond - A green Flanimal with four legs and a long, thin nose. It is the ancestor of the Edgor.
- Drub Mipe – A tiny, brown, spider-like Flanimal with no mouth. It is the ancestor of the Horosi-Horasi and the Squat.
- Progulant Glob – A lime-green blobby Flanimal that is the ancestor to many Flanimal creatures with backbones.
