About Morgan Hoffmann
Morgan Hoffmann grew up in Ringwood, New Jersey. He went to Ramapo High School. He won two state championships in New Jersey. To improve his golf game, he moved to South Carolina. This allowed him to train in warmer weather.
College and Early Career
Hoffmann spent two years at Oklahoma State University. He played on their golf team. He was a top amateur golfer. For a while in 2009, he was ranked number one in the world for amateur golfers. He also played in the 2009 Walker Cup that year.
In 2010, after playing in the U.S. Open, Hoffmann decided to become a professional golfer. He left college early to do this. His first major professional tournament was the 2012 U.S. Open. He finished tied for 29th place.
Playing on Tour
In 2012, Hoffmann played on the Web.com Tour. This tour helps golfers get ready for the main PGA Tour. He played well enough to earn a spot on the PGA Tour. In 2017, he had his best finish on the PGA Tour. He tied for second place at The Honda Classic.
Health Journey
In December 2017, Morgan Hoffmann shared some personal news. He announced he had been diagnosed with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). This is a condition that causes muscles to get weaker over time. Many people, including other golfers, sent him messages of support.
After taking time for treatment, Hoffmann made an amazing return. In April 2022, he competed on the PGA Tour again. This was his first time playing in three years. His return showed his incredible strength and determination.
