What is Mortified About?
Mortified tells the story of Taylor Fry, a 12-year-old girl. She lives in a sunny beach town in Australia called Sunburn Beach. Taylor often feels embarrassed by her family and the things they do. She wishes her life was more normal.
Taylor has a crush on a popular boy named Leon. Her best friend, Hector, secretly likes her. She also has a neighbor, Brittany, who seems perfect. Taylor often talks directly to the audience, sharing her thoughts and feelings. Her imagination is very active, making everyday objects seem to come alive.
Meet the Characters
Main Characters
- Marny Kennedy as Taylor Fry – Taylor is the main character. She is often embarrassed by her parents, Don and Glenda. Her older sister, Layla, also annoys her. Taylor has a crush on Leon, but she doesn't realize her best friend Hector likes her. Taylor often breaks the fourth wall to talk to the viewers. Marny Kennedy won an award for her acting in Mortified.
- Nicolas Dunn as Hector Garcia – Hector is Taylor's loyal best friend. He often gets pulled into Taylor's plans and adventures. Hector secretly has a crush on Taylor. He even sent her a Valentine's Day card once. Hector is allergic to cats.
- Maia Mitchell as Brittany Flune – Brittany is Taylor's next-door neighbor. She is known for being beautiful and always perfect. Sometimes, Taylor and Brittany are friends, and sometimes they aren't. Brittany also feels embarrassed by her own parents sometimes.
- Dajana Cahill as Layla Fry – Layla is Taylor's older sister. She can be mean and annoying to Taylor. Layla loves fashion and often has new boyfriends. Even though they fight, Layla sometimes helps Taylor. For example, she gave Taylor her old mobile phone.
- Luke Erceg as Leon Lipowski – Leon is the most popular boy in class. Both Taylor and Brittany have crushes on him. Leon loves surfing and sports. Hector doesn't like Leon much because Taylor likes him. Leon's dad, Gary, is nicknamed "Fingers."
- Rachel Blakely as Glenda Fry – Glenda is Taylor and Layla's mom and Don's wife. She is a bit silly and loves things from the 1960s. She often helps Don at his "Underpant King" shop. Glenda enjoys meditating and believes in chakras.
- Andrew Blackman as Don Fry – Don is Taylor and Layla's dad and Glenda's husband. He is known as the "Underpant King" because he owns a shop that sells underpants. Don can be funny and a bit wacky. But he is also caring, like when he saved Taylor from drowning.
Other Important Characters
- Sally McKenzie as Mystic Marj – Marj is Glenda's cousin. She works as a fortune teller who reads tea leaves. Marj is quite unusual and, like Glenda, is interested in chakras. Some people think she is a bit strange.
- Steven Tandy as Mr. McClusky – Mr. McClusky is the teacher for Taylor, Hector, Brittany, and Leon. He is wise and can be strict, especially when Leon throws things in class. Mr. McClusky was in almost all episodes of season one. He is not in season two because the kids go to high school.
- Peter Kent as Michael Flune and Veronica Neave as Loretta Flune – These are Brittany's parents. They like everything to be "perfect" and are very good musicians. They don't like stains on their carpet and have strict rules at home.
