Mount Bolton is a mountain located right on the border between Alberta and British Columbia in Canada. It's part of the beautiful Canadian Rockies and stands northeast of a town called Elkford.

Where is Mount Bolton?

This mountain is special because it sits on the Continental Divide. Imagine a giant invisible line that runs through North and South America. On one side, all the rain and melted snow flow towards the Pacific Ocean. On the other side, the water flows towards the Atlantic or Arctic Oceans! Mount Bolton is right on this important dividing line. It's also found in a region known as the Kootenay Land District.

Who was Lambert Bolton?

Mount Bolton was named to honor a person named Lambert Ernest Stanley Bolton. He was a Dominion Land Surveyor (DLS), which means he was a professional who measured and mapped land. Lambert Bolton was serving in the Canadian military with the Canadian Pioneers, 1st Battalion. Sadly, he lost his life while serving his country on June 13, 1916. Naming the mountain after him was a way to remember his service and sacrifice.
