Who Was Charles Bracey?

Mount Bracey is named after a brave Canadian soldier. His name was Corporal Charles William Bracey. He was from a place called South Fort George, British Columbia. Corporal Bracey served in the Canadian Army during World War II. He was part of the Lake Superior Regiment (Motor).

He was killed in action on August 15, 1944. This happened during a battle called Operation Tractable in Normandy, France. He was only 23 years old. Corporal Bracey is buried in France. His grave is at the Hottot-les-Bagues War Cemetery.
