Mount Burke is a mountain in British Columbia, Canada. It stands 1,270 m (4,167 ft) tall. This mountain is located in the northeast part of Coquitlam. It is north of Port Coquitlam.

Mount Burke is part of a series of hills that lead up to Coquitlam Mountain. Most of the mountain is inside Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. You can find Mount Burke near Minnekhada Regional Park. To get there, you can use Coast Meridian Road and Quarry Road.

History of Mount Burke's Name

Mount Burke got its name in 1859. Captain George Henry Richards named it after Edmund Burke. Captain Richards was exploring Burrard Inlet at the time. He was on a ship called HMS Plumper.

The mountain became part of Pinecone Burke Provincial Park in 1995. This was when the park was first created.

Understanding Burke Mountain Names

Many people sometimes mix up Mount Burke with another nearby area. This other area is called Burke Ridge. Burke Ridge is much higher and larger. It is more commonly known as Burke Mountain.

In the 1920s, Burke Ridge was also called Dollar Mountain. This name came from the Canadian Robert Dollar Company. This company used to cut down trees on the lower parts of the mountain.
