Mount Hereford (also known as French: Mont Hereford in French) is a mountain located in Quebec, Canada. It stands tall at 864 meters (about 2,835 feet) and is found in the Coaticook Regional County Municipality, within the Estrie region.
Naming Mount Hereford
Mount Hereford gets its name from a city and a county called Hereford in England. An old dictionary from 1832 even called it "Hereford Mountain." However, some local people have their own special names for it, like Montagne à Goyette or Montagne chez Goyette. This means "Goyette's Mountain."
Fun Activities at Mount Hereford
Mount Hereford is a great place for outdoor fun! You can hike to the very top using the Neil Tillotson Hiking Trail. This trail is about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) long. You can start your adventure from Clowery Road in Saint-Herménégilde or Coaticook Road in East Hereford.
Besides hiking, you can also enjoy other activities on the mountain. These include snowshoeing in winter, cross-country skiing when there's snow, and wildlife observation. It's a wonderful spot to see nature and animals!
