Mount Igikpak is a very tall mountain located in Alaska, a state in the United States. It is the highest peak in the Schwatka Mountains part of the Brooks Range. Mount Igikpak is also the tallest mountain found within Gates of the Arctic National Park.
This impressive mountain stands about 8,276 feet (2,523 meters) high. It is located in the south-central area of the national park. You can find it very close to where the Noatak River begins. It is also not far from some famous rocky peaks known as the Arrigetch Peaks.
First Climbers to Reach the Top
People have always been interested in climbing tall mountains. The first time anyone officially reached the very top of Mount Igikpak was on August 9, 1968. This important climb was completed by three explorers: David Roberts, Chuck Loucks, and Al De Maria. They were the first to successfully make it to the summit of this remote Alaskan peak.
