Mount Jimmy Jimmy is a tall, icy mountain in British Columbia, Canada. It stands 2,208 meters (about 7,244 feet) high and is covered by glaciers. You can find it about 32 kilometers (20 miles) northwest of Squamish. It's also 10 kilometers (6 miles) northwest of Ossa Mountain, which is a slightly taller peak nearby.

Mount Jimmy Jimmy is the highest point in an area called the Tzoonie-Clowhom Divide. Water from rain and melting glaciers on the mountain flows into smaller streams. These streams then feed into the Squamish River and Clowhom River.

The mountain was named after Chief Jimmy Jimmy. His native name was Swahsh, and he was a leader of the Squamish Nation. He used to have traplines (areas where he would hunt and trap animals) near the mountain. The mountain's name was officially approved on June 6, 1957, by the Geographical Names Board of Canada.

Climate

Mount Jimmy Jimmy is located in a "marine west coast" climate zone. This means it's near the ocean and gets a lot of rain and snow. Most weather fronts, which bring changes in weather, start over the Pacific Ocean. They travel east towards the Coast Mountains.

When these weather fronts reach the mountains, the air is forced to rise. This process is called Orographic lift. As the air rises, it cools down and drops its moisture. This causes a lot of rain or snow, especially during the winter months. Temperatures on the mountain can drop below −20 °C (or −4 °F). With wind, it can feel even colder, below −30 °C (or −22 °F).

The best time to visit Mount Jimmy Jimmy for climbing is usually from July through September. During these months, the weather is often more favorable and less extreme.
