How Mount Myhon Got Its Name

Mount Myhon was named to honor a brave young soldier. His name was Private James Stanley Myhon. He was a member of the Canadian Army. Private Myhon joined the army in Prince George, British Columbia. He served with the 3rd Canadian Division, specifically in the Canadian Scottish Regiment.

Private Myhon was only 19 years old when he was killed in action. This happened on October 28, 1944. He was fighting during a very important event called Operation Switchback. This operation was part of the larger Battle of the Scheldt during World War II. Private Myhon is buried at the Adegem Canadian War Cemetery in Belgium. His grave is a reminder of his sacrifice.
