Mount Nirvana is the tallest mountain in the Northwest Territories, Canada. It stands at an amazing 2,773 meters (about 9,098 feet) high! Even though it's often called Mount Nirvana, this name isn't officially recognized by the Canadian government yet.
The government is working to officially name it Thunder Mountain. This name comes from the local Deh Cho First Nation people. Still, many people who love climbing and exploring mountains know it as Mount Nirvana.
Mount Nirvana is also a special part of the Nahanni National Park Reserve. This park is the biggest national park in the Northwest Territories, protecting lots of amazing nature.

The First Climb to the Top
The first people to ever reach the very top of Mount Nirvana were Bill Buckingham and Lew Surdam. They made their exciting climb in July 1965. Imagine being the first to stand on top of such a huge mountain!
