Mount Pisgah is a cool mountain found in the town of Winthrop, Maine. Its highest point, called the summit, is the fifth tallest in Kennebec County.
Hikers love to visit Mount Pisgah. There's a popular loop trail that leads to a fire tower at the very top. From this tower, you can see all around, a full 360-degree view! You can spot the Camden Hills to the east and even Mount Washington in New Hampshire to the west.

Exploring Mount Pisgah's Trails
Mount Pisgah offers a fun hiking adventure for everyone. The main path is a loop made of two trails. These trails are perfect for a day out in nature.
The Tower Trail and Blueberry Trail
The first part is the Tower Trail, which is about 0.7 miles long. The second part is the Blueberry Trail, stretching for 1.3 miles. Together, they form a great loop. As you hike, you'll climb towards the summit.

At the top of Mount Pisgah, you'll find a tall fire tower. This tower was once used to spot forest fires. Today, it's a fantastic place for visitors. Early Residents and Farming
Long ago, in the mid-1800s, a famous person named Ezekiel Holmes lived on Mount Pisgah. He was an American agriculturalist and politician. People called him the "father of Maine agriculture." This means he helped farmers in Maine learn new and better ways to grow crops.
The Fire Lookout Tower's Story
From 1949 to 1992, the Maine Forest Service used the fire tower on Mount Pisgah. Their job was to watch for forest fires from this high point. The tower is 60 feet tall and was built by the Aermotor company.
Today, the Town of Winthrop and the Kennebec Land Trust take care of the tower. It is open for everyone to visit and enjoy the views. In 2017, the Kennebec Land Trust was working to make the trails even better and longer for hikers.
