Mountainboro was a small neighborhood located in the city of Boaz, Alabama. It used to be its own town before it became part of Boaz.

A Brief History of Mountainboro

Mountainboro officially became a town on October 31, 1963. Over the years, more land was added to the town. This happened on March 12, 1981, and again on September 14, 1993. The land added in 1993 included an area called Skyhaven Estate.

In October 2007, people in Mountainboro voted on whether to join the nearby city of Boaz. The vote was very close, passing by just one vote. There were some legal challenges about the vote, which delayed things until 2009. Finally, a judge confirmed the vote results. Because of this, Mountainboro stopped being its own town on August 14, 2009, and became a neighborhood within Boaz.
