Ms. Marvel is the name of several superheroes in comic books from Marvel Comics. The first Ms. Marvel was created to be a female version of Captain Marvel. Most characters who have been Ms. Marvel get their powers from alien Kree technology or their genes.
Marvel has published four ongoing comic series called Ms. Marvel. The first two series starred Carol Danvers, and the third and fourth series star Kamala Khan. Carol Danvers was once ranked as the #11 female character on IGN's Top Avengers list.

Who is Carol Danvers?
Carol Danvers was the first character to be called Ms. Marvel. She first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 in March 1968. At first, she was a regular officer in the United States Air Force.
How Carol Danvers Got Her Powers
In Captain Marvel #18 (November 1969), Carol was caught in an explosion with the alien superhero Captain Marvel. This explosion caused her DNA to mix with Captain Marvel's. Because of this, she gained superpowers and became Ms. Marvel in Ms. Marvel #1 (January 1977).
Carol Danvers as a Superhero
As Ms. Marvel, Carol became a very important member of the superhero team The Avengers. She joined them in The Avengers #171 (May 1978). Later, Carol used other superhero names like Binary and Warbird. In July 2012, she took on the name Captain Marvel. She did this to honor the original Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell, who had passed away. Captain America told her that Mar-Vell would have wanted her to have the title.
Who is Sharon Ventura?
Sharon Ventura was the second character to use the name Ms. Marvel. She first appeared in The Thing #27 in September 1985. She was a stunt performer and met The Thing through a group called the Thunderiders.
Sharon Ventura's Powers and Transformations
In The Thing #35 (May 1986), Sharon volunteered for an experiment. This experiment gave her superpowers so she could join a wrestling group with The Thing. She then took the name Ms. Marvel. Sharon later joined the Fantastic Four in Fantastic Four #307 (October 1987). After being exposed to cosmic rays, her body changed to look like The Thing. She then got the nickname She-Thing.
Who is Karla Sofen?
Dr. Karla Sofen is a supervillain known as Moonstone. She first appeared in Captain America #192 in December 1975.
Karla Sofen as Moonstone and Ms. Marvel
In The Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #228 (October 1978), Karla became the psychiatrist for another villain named Moonstone. Karla tricked him into giving her the special meteorite that gave him powers. She then took on the name and powers of Moonstone herself.
During a big comic storyline called "Dark Reign", Karla joined Norman Osborn's team of Avengers. This team was called the Dark Avengers. Karla pretended to be Ms. Marvel, wearing a costume similar to Carol Danvers' original one. Karla Sofen was the main character in the Ms. Marvel comic series starting with issue #38 (June 2009). Carol Danvers took the title back in issue #47 (January 2010).
Who is Kamala Khan?
Kamala Khan is the fourth character to take the name Ms. Marvel. She was created by Sana Amanat, G. Willow Wilson, and Adrian Alphona. Kamala first appeared in Captain Marvel #14 (August 2013).
Kamala Khan's Story and Impact
Kamala is a 16-year-old Pakistani-American girl from Jersey City, New Jersey. She looks up to Carol Danvers as her hero. Kamala got her own Ms. Marvel comic series, which started in February 2014. This made her Marvel Comics' first Muslim character to star in her own comic book. The first collected book of her series, Ms. Marvel Volume 1: No Normal, won a Hugo Award in 2015 for Best Graphic Story.
