Munir Malik (Urdu: منيرملک‎) was a talented Pakistani cricket player. He was born on July 10, 1934, and passed away on November 30, 2012. Munir Malik played three Test matches for Pakistan between 1959 and 1962.

He was a right-arm fast-medium bowler. This means he bowled the ball quickly. In Test cricket, he took nine wickets. He even managed to take five wickets in one game against England. In his longer first-class career, he took 197 wickets.

Munir Malik played 49 first-class matches. These games are a longer form of cricket, usually lasting three to five days. He played for teams like Karachi and Punjab. His career in first-class cricket lasted from 1956 to 1966.

Early Career Highlights

Munir Malik started his first-class journey in 1956-57. He played for Punjab B in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. In his first season, he took 13 wickets. His best performance that season was taking 5 wickets for only 19 runs.

In the 1957-58 season, he continued to play well. He took 5 wickets for 66 runs against Punjab. Over the next two seasons, he became even better. He took 23 wickets and then 28 wickets in those years.

In April 1960, Munir Malik played a match against the Indian Starlets. He took an amazing 12 wickets in that single match! He also played for the Pakistan Eaglets team.

Later Career and Records

During the 1961-62 season, Munir Malik took 38 wickets. He was part of the Pakistan team that traveled to England in 1962. While there, he played sixteen matches and took 43 wickets.

In the same year, he scored 72 runs for Combined Services. This was his highest score ever in first-class cricket. He played his last first-class match in 1965-66. In one of his final seasons, he took 8 wickets for 154 runs for Karachi Whites.

He played his last Test match during the same series against England. This game was at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. In that final Test, he took one wicket.
