The Murrell River is a river located on East Falkland in the Falkland Islands. It is known as a good place for fishing. The river has a large area where it meets the sea, called an estuary. This estuary connects with Hearnden Water and Port William. It is also quite close to Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands.

Where is the Murrell River?

The Murrell River starts its journey on a place called Mount Challenger. As it flows, other smaller streams and rivers join it. These smaller rivers are called tributaries. Some of these tributaries come from nearby mountains like Mount Kent, Mount Harriet, and Two Sisters. One specific tributary is known as Shanty Stream.

History Around the River

The area around the Murrell River and Murrell Bridge was important during a historical event. A large part of the Battle of Mount Longdon took place in and around this river. This battle was a significant event during the Falklands War in 1982.
